Chris Sain Jr. who is also a Founder & CEO, Athlete, and Author, faced many challenges growing up in the inner-city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Determined to beat the odds, Chris Sain Jr. desired to be more than what society expected and predicted. Chris belief is that he is a product of his expectations and not his environment. Chris Sain Jr. is rare. He has a balanced combination and perfect blend of street smarts-book smarts-and common sense.
In a society where it is deemed certain that African American Males will be dead or in jail by twenty-five years of age, Chris earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Wayne State University in 2008 and changed the face of therapy at twenty-four years old despite his oldest brother serving nineteen years in prison before being released. Chris speaks regularly at Colleges, High Schools, Middle Schools and Detention Centers. He talks about Purpose and the goals he had for himself in order to break the cycle of poverty, lack of education, violence, and hopelessness. In addition to his upcoming book, he is currently pursuing his Ph.D.
Chris Sain Jr., a two sport star in High School, dominated little league, Jr. High and High School Sports. Sports, in particularly football, became his ticket out of the inner-city. After graduating High School in 2001, Chris went on to play football at Michigan State University (MSU) before setbacks landed him short stints at Grand Rapids Community College and Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). At the college level, Chris never attained a level of proficiency that would justify a career as a professional athlete. Looking for answers, Chris turned to God and began focusing more on his education before taking control of his destiny.
Chris uses his experiences to influence youth in the community, be a positive male role model and a ray of hope for a generation that lacks direction. He founded Grand C.I.T.Y. also known as Grand C.I.T.Y. Sports, a community driven non-profit organization geared toward at-risk youth, sports and education in 2008. Grand C.I.T.Y. has become a vehicle for positive change, helping many youth connect with positive males in the community while improving their lives. With the emergence of social media, Chris is able to inspire thousands of people online, and in his everyday life.
